Community Crime Watch Cameras Operate 24/7

The following are sample views from neighborhood crime watch cameras located along Winthrop Avenue in Edgewater. These views are a quarter of the size of the actual images produced by the cameras. The cameras are capable of panning 0-360 degrees, tilting 0-90 degrees and zooming in up to 42 times. A license plate can be captured at a distance of up to 500 feet.

The cameras are monitoring the public way 24/7 to help the community capture crimes in the making such as drug dealing, prostitution. property damage, robbery, theft etc. and help resolve and document recently reported criminal activity. The effectiveness of any crime watch tool/program is directly related to the degree of participation from the community.
